Susie Whimster has had life long connections with Cornwall and often returns to draw. The rugged moorlands and rocky shores of the South West are a constant source of inspiration; the marks left by generations of farmers, fishermen and miners; the shapes of ancient field systems; the textures, stains and markings on derelict industrial buildings - all can be the starting point for drawings that lead to her many layered paintings.
Susie's work is not a realistic depiction of what she sees, but a simplified response, that may contain some figurative elements.
