Tansy Brown-Hovelt explores the often complex relationship between process and materials, ultimately striving to create visually seductive and ambiguous pieces, which question the nature of aesthetic beauty. Using experimental methodologies which exploit the incidental and the unpredictible Tansy has created a rich and expressive collection of small scale crystal workings.
As an extension of this work she has forced the unpredictible into the unexpected with unique poured aluminium sculptures which are driven and determined by her desire to push boundaries and explore unconventiality. Tansy is interested in the way in which the audience engage and interact with the work; how they examine and inspect the surfaces and the resulting discussion of what it might represent
